Who We Are And What We Do
Amarox is a Company dealing with prehistoric fossils and minerals. Our collection also includes jewelry and carvings created by semi-precious stones.
We are a family owned and operated business that started out as a small retail store back in 1995.
It all began decades before that, when our founder, Angelos Tsirides, was an amateur but passionate prehistoric fossils and minerals collector.
At the time it was very difficult to find sources in order to buy these items as they were very rare.
In order to introduce to the public the beauty and historical knowledge behind these items he traveled abroad in order to buy high quality specimens. He visited countries in mid-west Africa and Central Asia, Europe and America and was able to purchase some unique and magnificent specimens of the earth’s history. He brought them back to Cyprus in order to set up his first prehistoric fossils and minerals exhibition.
The exhibition was a great success, the visitors loved it and it became the talk of the town.
Due to public demand, the first shop of prehistoric treasures was established in Nicosia in 1995 in order to facilitate these items to the public.
Nowadays, apart from the shops we also operate an e-shop where people can find thousands of pieces that vary in quality and price, from commercial quality to museum pieces.
Through the years due to the interest of the people, more shops were introduced to the public: one shop at Stravrou Avenue Nicosia, one at Griva Digeni Limassol and one at Kings Avenue Mall Paphos
The collection ranges from dinosaur specimens, fish, ammonites and many other fossils. Also it includes minerals, meteorites and crystal carvings made by famous artists all over the world such as Peter Muller from Brazil. Our shops also have a very big range of jewelry made from semi-precious stones some of which are made in silver. Other home accessories and gifts such as abalone shells, lamps, clocks, keyrings, candleholders bookends and many more, all created by semi-precious stones are also available in our shops.
In order to get our hands on these findings we have to travel to nearly all the 6 Continents in order to bring the best in quality and price. Our main findings come from countries such as Morocco, Congo, Namibia, China, Brazil, Greece, Russia, Germany, Poland, Peru, Lebanon, Argentina, Australia and a lot of other great countries.
Our activities cover both imports and exports.
